Biography: I have completed an undergraduate honours degree in neuroscience at the University of Alberta, with extensive research spanning neurodegenerative disorders, AI-integrated diagnostic imaging, and the study of psilocybin in psychiatric conditions. I learned of NVLD when I sought neuropsychological testing for ADHD due to difficulties with executive functioning and planning in unstructured and self-initiating environments such as academia. Having received the diagnosis, I can now focus on working with my brain rather than against it, namely, tailoring structure and routine to ensure I maintain my capacity to function in such environments. Through this platform, I hope to share the many strategies I have accumulated to counteract the so-called “pitfalls” of an NVLD diagnosis, which may prove useful to others living with NVLD.
Who has influenced you the most in life and why? My mother. She has provided an essential sense of structure and routine throughout my life.
