Profession: Rapper

Biography: Since being described by Complex as Trap’s Newest Star, Toronto rapper Shah’s audience and influence has grown globally. Shah’s career was launched by Atlanta strip clubs before growing beyond traditional rap boundaries. Shah’s first viral moment was propelled by the shocked response of New York City Dominicans hearing Telemundo, his first recording, rapping gutter Dominican slang Shah learned while living in Washington Heights. Shah then completed his first European tour and played music festivals from Europe back to North America. Shah’s global reach grew further as he explored his Desi heritage and was discovered by the SouthAsian diaspora. While Shah had previously been recognized by blogs as one of America’s most influential Desi rappers, this is the first time his impact was being felt directly in South Asia.

  • What motivated you to become a Social Ambassador for the NVLD Project?
As a rapper, I believe it’s important to discuss stigmatized issues, such as struggles with mental health, but these discussions often seem out of place when posted on my social platforms, where the audience is comprised of my fans who are primarily looking for my music. The Ambassadorship for the NVLD Project enables these discussions to make more sense and provides a natural path for my fans to learn more about NVLD if they are inclined.
  • What advice would you give to others living with NVLD?
1. Never be afraid to speak out against injustice.
2. Become good at making money.
